BCB has received a number of recent award notifications, listed below.

• Chelsey McKenna received the 2012-13 George J. Schroepfer, Jr. Award for Outstanding Ph.D. Thesis in Biochemistry & Cell Biology and she also tied for First Place for the Rice University/Texas Medical Center Chapter of the Sigma Xi Research Society Thesis Award.
  
• Kim Gonzalez and Alicia Jones were awarded NSF Graduate Research Fellowships this spring.
  
• Celeste Riepe is the recipient of the James B. Walker Award for Outstanding Seniors in Biochemistry and Cell Biology, and she was awarded one of the Wiess School of Natural Sciences Awards for the Top Three Projects in category at the Rice Undergraduate Research Symposium.
  
• Juhye Lee has been awarded the George J. Schroepfer, Jr. Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Research in Biochemistry.
  
• JuLie Nguyen has been awarded the Frederick B. Rudolph Award for Outstanding Biochemistry & Cell Biology Senior.
  
• Charles Adelmann has been named a 2013 Goldwater Scholar by the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation.
  
• Bonnie Bartel has been elected to American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
  
• Alma Novotny was selected for a Will Rice College Outstanding Associate Award.
  
• Yousif Shamoo received the Brown Superior Teaching Award.
  
• Mike Gustin was awarded the Brown Teaching Award for Excellence.
